Last weekend, Lisa and Robert got married on a blustery Fall afternoon. Once again, the weather was playing tricks. What was supposed to be passing showers turned into a full afternoon of downpours! But thankfully Lisa and Robert didn’t allow that to stop them from enjoying their wedding day. It was absolutely beautiful, and to say that their friends and family were fun is an understatement! After the ceremony, the rain slowed down enough for us to get some outdoor portraits, and we even had some gorgeous golden light.

The day started with the girls getting ready at the bridal suite at The Meadows, and the boys at the hotel. Lisa was a little nervous (not to be marrying Robert, but just because weddings can sometimes be a little nerve-wracking!), and it was so nice to see how her bridesmaids took care of her, distracting her and making her laugh. John was hanging out with the guys at the hotel and he sent me a text saying, “The guys are fun!” That pretty much sums up this group of friends. Lisa and Robert’s ceremony was held on the covered patio, and although it was still raining we could see blue sky breaking through and the light was beautiful. I was so happy for this sweet couple, who met in high school!

Bride and Groom hugging on rocks on beach in the fog

Last weekend, Ainsley & Paul got married in a beautiful ceremony at Saint Patrick’s church in Mystic and headed to the Meadows in Stonington for a night of celebration with their family and friends. We loved getting to know Ainsley and Paul at their engagement session at Bluff Point last year, and knew their wedding day would be something special. Their day could not have been more lovely. Ainsley looked so beautiful, and Paul couldn’t help but smile when he looked at her. The weather started out sunny and bright, but as we headed back to the Meadows, the fog rolled in. I love fog! (What a rollercoaster we have been on with the weather lately!) My favorite part of the day was spending time with Ainsley and Paul at the beach, doing their portraits in the fog. There’s something about fog that is so mysterious an romantic. It was so much fun (especially since they had scheduled in plenty of time for us to do them).  We were in photographer’s heaven! We had a great time meeting their family and friends, who obviously love this couple very much. There were sweet (and funny) toasts and some epic dance floor moves (including a very interesting interpretation of Fireball). All in all, a beautiful day celebrating Ainsley & Paul!

We always love working with some of our favorite vendors, including Stephanie (and friends) from Rae of Lyte Beauty, Gourmet Galley and Stylish Blooms. Everyone did a great job making sure Ainsley & Paul had the day that they envisioned!

Bride in ballgown kicking up her heels and laughing while holding a glass of champagne in a wood paneled room

As a wedding photographer, I try not to pay too much attention to the weather. It’s one of those things that is out of our control, and you don’t need perfect weather to have a perfect wedding. That being said, the weather for Kori & Brian’s Inn at Mystic wedding seemed to have been sent straight from heaven. (And maybe it was!) And it just seem to add to the joy of the day for this sweet, fun couple.

Kori and her girls got ready at the Haley mansion. She loved watching the hustle and bustle of the wedding day set up and was thrilled seeing all of the details come to life. Kori and Brian brought together their vision of a modern twilight garden theme beautifully.

The day was full of sweet surprises. Their ceremony was performed by her cousin (who also introduced Kori and Brian) and ended with them under an umbrella being showered with a mix of poprocks for the rough times, sprinkles for the sweet times, and rice for longevity and everlasting love. There was also a flash mob entrance by the bride and groom, and a sparkler sendoff with the wedding party. But my absolute favorite surprise was the tepee! When Kori was a little girl, she and her stepfather Bubba used to go and get wood. It was something special that they did together. One day Bubba took some extra pieces of wood and built her a teepee. Of course, she loved it. So as a surprise on her wedding day, Bubba built Kori a special teepee on the grounds of the Inn at Mystic. It was such a sweet touch  that meant the world to her.

Kori and Brian, we loved being a part of your special day. Thanks so much for choosing us. Cheers to a happy life together!
