When I was a kid, I though the worst way to spend a day was “quietly”. My kid brain immediately did the conversion. Quiet = boring. Uneventful = mind numbing. Peaceful = Dull. As I have gotten older, I have come to understand how lucky we are to have quiet days, to live lives that might be labeled “boring”. We have had many people close to us deal with problems with their health, their marriage, their families. While it’s tough watching someone you love struggle, it makes you realize how blessed you are. (I only like drama in my lighting, thank you very much.)
So here is my new conversion. Quiet = Relaxing. Uneventful = Calm. And Peaceful = Happy.
We enjoyed a peaceful Thanksgiving with my sister and brother-in-law in their new home, along with my parents and some of my brother-in-laws family. We laughed, sipped wine, and enjoyed the calm.
My sister made these beautiful centerpieces.
And her awesome apple pie.
It was Alex’s birthday, and he got his Nintendo DS that morning.
Alex telling some sort of tall tale..
My brother-in-law and Mom, working on the gravy.
Relaxing and getting ready to eat some great food!
And of course, a little football. The kids didn’t even need coats!
All in all, a great Thanksgiving.
Just look at that picture of John at the table to know where Alex gets his storytelling, um, skill.
Yup, Kate. You got that right!
