Right now in Connecticut, we are bracing ourselves for the first hurricane in a long time. The last time we had a hurricane, I had permed Mariah Carey hair, a fading tan courtesy of Spring Break in Florida, and a crush on this great guy I had just met named John. Anyway, I hope everyone stays safe and weathers the storm.
As I mentioned in my last post, we were lucky enough to enjoy a trip to Southern Vermont recently. One of our favorite days was spent in the charming town of Manchester. After a very interesting trip up a mountain, we made it to the estate of Hildene. To say it’s beautiful is an understatement. The setting is so stunning.
And they do weddings there! The bride gets to arrive in this amazing car.
Hildene is the estate of Abraham Lincoln’s only surviving son, Robert Todd Lincoln. One of Lincoln’s stovepipe hats and his dressing mirror are on display. And on a different note, I loved this whole wall of storage cubbies in the laundry room. I want this in my house!
I’m all about the details…
And the views out to the garden! And the floral arrangements!
One of the coolest parts of our visit was seeing their working farm, where they raise goats and make cheese. And riding there through the woods on a golf cart was the boys favorite part of the day!
John now wants a goat. They are so funny and friendly. And they have this funny little clump of hair on the top of their head that looks like a toupee. And he says we’d never have to mow the lawn again.
Max and Alex also made a friend.
Meanwhile, back in West Dover, we discovered this amazing bakery called Sticky Fingers. Our new favorite place!
Cinnamon Roll Smile!
If you ever get to West Dover, you need to go there. And try the cinnamon rolls!
