Stonington Borough in Stonington, Connecticut is a gem. It’s a chic mix of upscale and homey, old New England meets transplanted New Yorkers. When John and I started dating we spent a lot of time there. We would window shop, grab some coffee and a bite to eat. And we always took a trip off of the beaten path down to the docks.
John comes from a family of fishermen and the borough is the home of the Stonington fishing fleet. John actually worked on a scalloping boat over a few summers in high school and college. It’s pretty cool to see his face light up as he tells us his fishing stories or stories he heard growing up from his dad and grandfather. It’s an important part of his family history.
And there is a really cool playground nearby! Bonus!
You can’t beat the Borough for New England charm.
