Katherine and Peter are the sweetest couple. They are fun and smart and clearly made for each other. But their first meeting didn’t leave them thinking that they were a match made in heaven.

Here’s what they wrote about how they met:

“Peter and Katherine met in their first year of law school through mutual friends at a trivia night at Durham’s Fullsteam Brewery. Although Katherine heard positive things about Peter through this group of friends, who seemed genuinely pleased that he’d be joining for the evening despite his questionable knowledge of trivia, she was not initially impressed with him. A lifelong southerner despite her notions to the contrary, she found Peter to be stereotypically “Connecticut”–quiet, snobby, and tragically unaware of how flashy his Fendi eyeglasses were. It gets worse; Peter does not remember Katherine from that evening, or indeed, from the first year of law school at all. Needless to say, it was not love (or even like) at first sight. ”

But of course, as the romantic comedy has taught us, everything was not as it seemed. Those Fendi glasses were actually knock-offs Peter had ordered from a sketchy Chinese website and Katherine turned out to be someone that he would never forget. Once they figured that out, their story went from friendship to a relationship to a beautiful wedding on the coast of Connecticut. We were so thrilled to join their amazing family and friends in celebrating this sweet couple. who really did turn out to be a match made in heaven.

John and I were lucky enough to finish up our wedding season (and 2018) with a very special wedding at the Mystic Seaport Museum. The Seaport was all decked out for the holidays and was the perfect place for friends and family from near and far to celebrate Alexandra and Tyler! Alex and Tyler met at the Naval School of Music. He is a Navy trumpet player and she is a Marine Corps flutist. They started dating and then after graduation were sent to their respective duty stations, very far from one another. They continued dating long distance but when Alex had a serious health scare, Tyler flew to her and took care of her for nearly a month. Thankfully they received the good news that she was on the road to recovery. They just knew that they were meant to be together forever. The health scare prompted them to get legally married in a small ceremony in her home town in California and then plan their dream wedding with everyone that they love in Tyler’s home town. The Seaport was the perfect backdrop for this couple with such strong military family connections. It really brought their Americana theme to life. Tyler wore a custom British officer’s uniform, complete with saber (later used to cut the cake! Funny side note: Our son Max is fencing saber for his college fencing team this year!) Alex had a gorgeous cape made, which was not only beautiful but perfect for the end of December. With the help of Jenna and the Coastal Gourmet team, the whole day just came together beautifully. They were all so happy to be together! And we were so happy to be a small part of their celebration.

Last weekend, Kristyn and Brendan got married in a beautiful wedding near the water on the North lawn of Latitude 41 on a perfect summer day. We met Kristyn and Brendan when we did their engagement session, and we loved getting to know them.  We did their session in Groton Long Point because it is very special to both of them. So it was very cool that their day started there, with the guys getting ready at the home of Kristyn’s parents and the girls getting ready at her grandfather’s house. Their whole day was full of family and close friends who were so happy to see this sweet couple start their life together. Their ceremony was really touching. Their personal vows had everyone in tears. And then there was the dance floor! It was packed all night long, thanks to their amazing band, K2! It was such a perfect day, and we couldn’t have been happier to be there to celebrate with them.
